Reese’s final promotional appearance this week was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday evening. They played a fun game of ‘What’s Behind Me’, and Reese chatted about Busy Betty, The Morning Show season 3, Dolly Parton, and Hello Sunshine. Reese again opted for Alexander McQueen for this appearance, wearing an off-the-shoulder black dress and belt from the designer, with shoes by Christian Louboutin. Reese appeared on The View on Wednesday, to promote Busy Betty. The interview was similar to GMA and The Today Show, with Reese talking about Busy Betty being based on her as a child, the trouble she got into as a child when trying to run businesses, and her mother’s influence on her. Reese talked about Hello Sunshine and putting women’s stories out there, what it is she loves about books, how she chooses which books to turn into movies or TV series including Where The Crawdads Sing, how she’s learned “every side of my business”, and that she doesn’t have ‘imposter syndrome’. They also chatted about Sweet Home Alabama and the appeal of romantic comedies, Lizzo, and season 3 of The Morning Show. Reese posed outside the studios with her book. Reese wore a pretty purple dress by Oscar De La Renta, with Christian Louboutin shoes and a Bottega Veneta purse.

Reese appeared on Today with Hoda and Jenna on Tuesday, to promote her new children’s book Busy Betty. Reese talked about her early experiences of business – including lemonade stands – and that she was “kooky” and had a “big personality” as a child! She said she didn’t play much with other children as she was too busy performing and singing Dolly Parton to them, and that her kindergarten teacher told her Mom this and her Mom put her in acting classes! She also talked about how she’s always found it important to see how different parts of film-making happen (she worked as a production assistant when she was younger), and the work she is doing now to develop more roles for women. Reese talked about the spirit of Busy Betty, as well as the difference between parenting young children and adult children. They mentioned that it is the 20th anniversary of Sweet Home Alabama and Reese said she’d “make some calls” to get a reboot/sequel made! 😉 Reese’s gorgeous red jacket and trousers are by Alexander McQueen, and her shoes are Christian Louboutin.

Reese appeared on Good Morning America yesterday, as part of her promotional tour for Busy Betty. She talked about how she came up with the idea of Busy Betty – she was looking through photos of herself as a child during the pandemic and was reminded of all the businesses she started when she was little, and she wanted to write a book to teach children about business concepts. She talked about the influence of her parents on her work ethic, the trouble she got into as a child with her businesses, her kids, how she harnessed her creativity to become successful, and The Morning Show. Reese wore a striking blue jacket and trousers by Alexander McQueen, with a Lafayette shirt and Manolo Blahnik shoes.

Kevin Mayer, co-CEO of Blackstone Group-backed Candle Media, discussed the company’s 360 IP-investment strategy at the MipTV conference in Cannes on Monday morning.
Mayer was appearing alongside Moonbug Entertainment co-founder René Rechtman on a panel moderated by Variety international editor Manori Ravindran. Candle Media purchased children-focused brand Moonbug last year for $3 billion.
Mayer also explained how Candle Media is focused on acquiring companies that have “synergy,” giving an example of Witherspoon partnering with Rechtman on a children’s series. “Reese Witherspoon has a fantastic idea for a new kids brand and she’s writing a book about it and she was going to make an animated series behind it,” said Mayer. (Last month Witherspoon announced she had written her first children’s book, “Busy Betty,” inspired by her own adventures as a child.)
“Moonbug specializes in kids animation and speaking to that audience and they have a huge built-in audience with which to promote new programming so of course Rene connected with Reese and one thing came to another and now Rene’s hopefully going to be – in the next many months – will be launching that new product with Reese and there’ll be a very substantial collaboration there.”
Earlier this week Reese announced that she has written her first children’s picture book, and that it will be released later this year! The character of Betty is based on herself as a child, and her dog companion is obviously based on her old dog!

Reese Witherspoon is a longtime champion of reading and female empowerment — and she’s combining both interests for her first children’s book!
On Wednesday, the actress announced that her picture book Busy Betty, which is inspired by her own adventures as a kid, will be published by Flamingo Books on Oct. 4.
“I’ve been thinking about creating a children’s book with realistic young female characters since I had my daughter,” Witherspoon, 45, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. “When I was a kid, I had a busy brain with a million ideas and more energy than most adults could manage so, Betty is really based on adventures from my childhood.”
Busy Betty, which is illustrated by Xindi Yan, follows a little girl who realizes she needs to give her smelly dog Frank a bath before her friend Mae arrives. “But giving Frank a bath is harder than she thought,” reads the book description, “and just when everything seems impossible, with Mae’s help, Betty learns she can accomplish anything with perseverance, teamwork, and one great idea.”
